Here’s a review of my least favorite collections from Fiji Fashion Week Resort Luxe Show.

It’s me again and my post-Fiji fashion week review. I’ve done a little voiceover and photo ‘situation’ for my top designers from last Saturday’s show and posted it on my story so this blog will just be on my least favorite collections from the night.

  1. Aisea Konrote

Aisea took a 180 turn with this years collection and I’m not sure if it’s pointing him towards the right direction. He kept his signature wrap-dress with layered sleeves (which I loved) but added other pieces which I feel he could have left out altogether. The choice of fabric and color was great but I felt he lacked creativity with some of his looks. If they weren’t under-styled, they were over-styled. Nonetheless, great job Aisea and I hope to see more at your next show this December.

  1. Temesia Tuicaumia

The stylish designer always pulls through with his day-to-day looks which he mirrored in his 2020 collection. What I feel Temesia lacked with his two collections during Fashion Week was representation and lack of research. Styling was on point for most of the looks but it’s the use of the tapa fabric for me. Allow me to take you on a trip down memory lane. Anton Conway Wye created an entire collection (unbeatable to date) using the the same fabric in 2014 (GPH) where his pieces were worn my Phillipa Steele at a red carpet event in Sydney and Miss Koini Vakaloloma. Student Designers from Tilak and Natabua used the same fabric in 2015 and again in 2016 at the Vodafone arena. As a blogger I’m out here looking for progress and innovation, not a cliche. Now to representation. Temesia always has been a great ambassador for men’s fashion in the Pacific and I commend him for that, but where’s the representation on the runway for the plus-size male fashionista ? All in all, it was a great collection and I look forward to seeing more from my fellow influencer and designer.

  1. DUATANI by Hosanna Kabakoro

Now my home-girl will come for me at our next coffee date but I’d be lying if I sung praises but really didn’t completely like the collection. One of my pet peeves when sitting front row at any fashion show is when I’m admiring a garment and I see puckering on the stitches and hemline. Puckering should never be visible to anyone sitting watching a fashion show and that was what I saw in some of H’s pieces. It’s not entirely her fault but I feel like as a designer it’s important that we quality-check before the garments are showcased. After a few conversations pre-fashion week I grew to admire her fight to keep her price margin low to accommodate people, much like myself, who want to have access to beautiful designer clothing but can’t afford it. I also have to thank H for being sustainable with her collection and creating not one but two full collections for Fashion Week using cut-off fabric. I know how hard you’ve worked and how nervous you were to get this out there but you did it sis! So congratulations Hosanna and I’ll see you over coffee next week.

Again, it’s me signing off after a mad month of fashion, glitz and glamor. I hope you enjoyed the updates and I’ll be posting more at my last two events for the year coming up in the next two weeks.

Love always,

ThreeGoodLane
